EDWARDSVILLE – A woman is seeking damages from a Wood River property owner after she allegedly stepped into a concealed hole and fell.

Monica L. Haxton filed a complaint on Jan. 12 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Anita J. Bowman, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 27, 2016, she was traversing the common yard of Bowman's property when she stepped into a concealed hole, causing her to fall and injure herself.

She claims she sustained injuries to her arms, legs and throughout her body that caused her to suffer extreme pain, mental anguish and substantial medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges Bowman failed to properly maintain the lawn and landscaping of the property and failed to warn of the existence of holes.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant of more than $50,000, plus costs of suit.

She is represented by Thomas E. Hildebrand of Thomas E. Hildebrand Law Office in Granite City.
