According to the complaint, on Jan. 22, 2017, Candies and Haynes were traveling south along Madison Avenue near its intersection with 20th Street in Granite City when the defendant struck their vehicle.

They allege they suffered injuries to their heads, necks, cervical spines, torsos and other parts of their bodies, both internally and externally.

The plaintiffs allege Vitale carelessly made an improper lane change and failed to yield to the right of way.
