By Lhalie Castillo | Dec 19, 2017

BELLEVILLE – A shopper at a Fairview Heights furniture store alleges she was injured after she tripped on a display rack.

Deborah O'Dell filed a complaint on Nov. 29 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Value City Furniture and American Signature Inc., doing business as Value City Furniture, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Dec. 6, 2015, she was shopping for a rug at Value City Furniture in Fairview Heights when she tripped on a display rack.

As a result, she claims she sustained severe and permanent injuries to numerous parts of her body that resulted in medical expenses, loss of enjoyment of life and pain.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants negligently used display racks that incorporate unnecessary tripping hazards and failed to warn their guests of the existence of dangerous condition.

The plaintiff seeks damages in an amount that is fair and reasonable.

She is represented by Robert C. Nelson of Nelson & Nelson Attorneys at Law PC in Belleville.
