By Lhalie Castillo | Dec 5, 2017

BELLEVILLE – Two passengers allege they were injured in a Belleville collision when the driver failed to see another car had abruptly stopped in traffic.

Christopher De La Cueva and Tetiana Shkirdan filed a complaint on Nov. 13 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Steven Gove and Derek Young, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Nov. 29, 2015, they were passengers in a motor vehicle being driven by Gove. They were traveling eastbound along Mascoutah Avenue in Belleville when Gove allegedly collided with the rear of Young's vehicle and caused injuries to the plaintiffs.

The plaintiffs allege Gove failed to maintain careful lookout and failed to reduce speed to avoid the accident while Young allegedly abruptly stopped in traffic.

The plaintiffs seek judgment in favor of each plaintiff in an amount of more than $50,000.

They are represented by Amanda Martin of Parente & Norem PC in Chicago.
