Armstrong Pumps Inc., others named in asbestos injury suit

Asbestos 04

BELLEVILLE – A former employee of General Tire & Rubber Co. alleges that he was exposed to asbestos during his career and was injured.

James M. Wilson and Norma Wilson filed a complaint on Nov. 1 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Armstrong Pumps Inc., Aurora Pump Co., Borg-Warner Morse Tec LLC et al., alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that between 1961 and 1994, James M. Wilson worked as a laborer as a laborer at General Tire and Rubber Co. and claims he was exposed to and inhaled, ingested or otherwise absorbed large amounts of asbestos fibers from certain products manufactured by the defendants.

As a result, James M. Wilson alleges he developed lung cancer on Nov. 3, 2016, which deprived Norma Wilson of the companionship, society and services of her husband.

The plaintiffs allege the defendants failed to provide any or adequate warnings and instructions concerning the safe methods of working with and around the asbestos products including specific instructions on how to avoid inhaling, ingesting or otherwise absorbing the asbestos fibers in them.

The plaintiffs seek judgment for a sum of more than $50,000 which will fairly and reasonably compensate them for the injuries. They are represented by Randy L. Gori of Gori, Julian & Associates PC in Edwardsville.
