By Lhalie Castillo | Sep 5, 2017

EDWARDSVILLE – A man has filed suit against his former Hamel employer over allegations that he was terminated for reporting illegal activities.

Marce Prewitt filed a complaint on Aug. 31 in the Madison County Circuit Court against VSE Corp. alleging his former employer violated Illinois law that prohibits the discharge of employees for reporting alleged illegal activities.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 31, 2012, he was terminated from his employment with VSE Corp after he allegedly reported illegal activities to his supervisors. The illegal activities include co-employees using illegal drugs, taking kickbacks and taking company money for their own personal use, the suit states.

The plaintiff seeks damages of more than $50,000, plus costs of the suit and any further relief as the court deems just and proper.

He is represented by Michael J. Brunton and Mary M. Stewart of Brunton Law Offices PC in Collinsville.
