BELLEVILLE – A Walmart shopper alleges she was injured when she slipped and fell at the Collinsville location.

Marcia Byrd filed a complaint on Aug. 8 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Wal-Mart Stores Inc. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 18, 2015, she was shopping at the defendant's Collinsville location when she slipped on an unknown substance and fell while walking past an ice cooler. She claims she noticed a broken bag of ice on the floor after her fall.

The plaintiff alleges Wal-Mart Stores failed to inspect the premises to ascertain the presence of a foreign substance on the floor and failed to provide any type of warning for its customers concerning the unsafe condition of the subject area.

The plaintiff seeks judgment in an amount of more than $50,000.

She is represented by John T. Hipskind and Brady M. McAninch of Hipskind & McAninch, LLC in Belleville.
