BELLEVILLE — A driver is suing motorist William Wheetley, citing alleged insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries for a 2015 rear-end crash in Fairview Heights.
Michelle Bush filed a complaint on March 2 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against William Wheetley alleging that the defendant failed in his duty to properly operate his vehicle to avoid an accident.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, on March 7, 2015, while driving eastbound on Lincoln Highway, plaintiff's vehicle was struck in the rear when she lawfully stopped at the intersection of Crossroads. As a result, Bush claims she suffered physical injuries and incurred medical expenses in the approximate amount of $25,000. The plaintiff holds Wheetley responsible because he allegedly failed to keep a careful lookout both ahead and laterally, failed to yield the right of way to the plaintiff and failed to lessen his speed and keep his vehicle under control.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in an amount in excess of $50,000 plus costs of suit and other further relief the court deems just and appropriate. She is represented by Thomas G. Kemper of Butler and Kemper in Granite City and Christopher J. Griffin of Christopher J. Griffin LLC in Webster Groves, Missouri.
