EDWARDSVILLE — A vehicle passenger is suing a driver for allegedly running a stop sign and causing a collision.

Joyce Claypool filed a complaint on March 3, in the Madison County Circuit Court against Robert Rakers, alleging he failed to operate his motor vehicle with reasonable care and caution.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Feb. 29, 2016, she was a passenger in a vehicle being driven southbound on Illinois Route 127 when the defendant's vehicle entered the traffic lane, colliding with the vehicle occupied by plaintiff.

The plaintiff alleges the defendant failed to stop at a posted stop sign, failed to keep his eyes on the road in front of him, failed to keep proper lookout and failed to exercise proper control of his vehicle.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in her favor in an amount in excess of $50,000 plus cost of this suit and any other further relief the court deems just and appropriate.
