Man sues Geico for alleged breach of contract

EDWARDSVILLE — A man is suing Geico for allegedly failing to provide coverage pursuant to his underinsured motorist contract.

Jefferey L. Gibson, Jr. filed a complaint on Feb. 23 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Geico Casualty Company, alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 13, 2015, he was injured in a motor vehicle collision. To date, Gibson alleges he has not received any payment for the losses pursuant to the underinsured motorist coverage under his contract even though he had fully paid all premiums required under the agreed policy.

The plaintiff alleges Geico failed to respond to his time limit settlement demand, failed to pay him the undisputed amount of underinsured motorist claim and failed to timely arbitrate his underinsured motorist claim.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in amount in excess of $50,000, cost of suit, attorney fees, and any further relief the deems just and proper.

He is represented by Rodney D. Caffey and Ralph J. Mendelssohn of The Caffey Law Firm, LLC in Godfrey.
