Motorist sues Metro after driver allegedly caused collision

Car accident 31

BELLEVILLE - A motorist claims he was injured when a Metro bus collided with his pickup truck.

Gerald Scott and Terri Scott filed a complaint on Nov. 3, in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Bi-state Development Agency, doing business as Metro, and Metro East Transit District, doing business as St. Clair County Transit District, alleging the public transport provider's employee Zelda Yvette Richardson breached her duty to exercise ordinary care and safety.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Nov. 13, 2016, Gerald Scott was operating a pickup truck when Metro's bus, being operated by Richardson, accidentally collided with his vehicle.

As a result, Scott alleges he sustained injuries and damages.

The plaintiffs allege the defendant's employee carelessly failed to keep the bus under control, failed to reduce speed to avoid collision and failed to maintain careful lookout.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against defendant in an amount in excess of $50,000 but not more than $100,000 for Gerald Scott, plus $15,000 but not more than $50,000 for plaintiff Terri Scott and any other relief as the court deems just.

They are represented by Edward J. Fanning of Fanning Law Office of Hardin Inc. in Hardin.
