EDWARDSVILLE — A Madison County man is suing a motorist, alleging the defendant's negligence caused a crash that injured the plaintiff.

Stephen D. Bray filed a lawsuit Sept. 14 in Madison County Circuit Court against Darrell K. Norwood, alleging failure to to exercise ordinary care for the safety of other persons.

According to the complaint, on July 1, 2015, Bray was driving toward the intersection at state Route 157 and West Main Street in Collinsville when Norwood's vehicle struck the plaintiff's car from the rear. The suit says the collision resulted in injuries to Bray's head, neck, and back that led to pain and suffering, plus medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges Norwood failed to keep proper lookout, drove too fast and failed to reduce speed to avoid a collision.

Bray seeks trial by jury, compensation of more than $50,000, plus costs of suit. He is represented by attorney John H. Leskera of Leskera Law Firm in Collinsville.
