Visitor alleges apartment operator's negligence caused serious injuries

Slip01

EDWARDSVILLE — A Madison County woman is suing an Alton apartment operator, alleging negligence caused the plaintiff to suffer serious injuries.

Ashley Bullard filed a lawsuit July 5 in Madison County Circuit Court against Gundaker Commercial Group Inc. and Amy Podorski, alleging negligence in failing to properly maintain the premises.

According to the complaint, on April 20, 2015, Bullard was stepping from the front porch of defendants' property at the Alton Pointe Apartments in Alton and stepped into a deep crevice at the edge of the concrete sidewalk. The suit says she sustained a traumatic fall, causing her to sustain serious bodily injuries.

The lawsuit states Bullard has suffered and will continue to suffer physical pain and mental anguish, loss of normal life, lost wages and incurred necessary medical expenses. The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to discover the dangerous condition, failed to properly inspect the premises, failed to properly warn guests of the dangerous condition and failed to remedy the dangerous condition.

Bullard seeks a trial by jury, judgment of more than $50,000, plus legal costs. She is represented by attorneys Michael P. Glisson and Timothy J. Chartrand of Williamson, Webster, Falb & Glisson in Alton.
