Mother claims children received improper dental work

BELLEVILLE – The mother of two minors claims her children were injured after receiving improper dental treatment.

Savannah J. Tiemann and Eli B. Tiemann, by their mother and next friend, Kim Tiemann, filed the suit March 21 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Angela Tenholder DMD and Smileology Dental PC.

Savannah J. Tiemann was a patient of defendant Tenholder, employed by defendant Smileology, in 2012 and 2013. Eli B. Tiemann was a patient from 2010 to 2013. The defendant Tenholder allegedly performed various procedures on each plaintiff child.

According to the complaint, the defendant failed to properly prepare and install the dental devices, failed to properly treat the plaintiff's dental problems and failed to recognize and correct the problems that were causing the plaintiff's pain and discomfort.

As a result of the defendants' alleged negligence, the plaintiffs have suffered pain and permanent injuries to their teeth, jaw and mouth, which have required further dental treatment.

The plaintiffs seek judgment against the defendants of an amount in excess of $75,000, plus court costs. They are represented by Ted W. Dennis and James R. Mendillo of Freeark, Harvey & Mendillo PC in Belleville.
