Motorist blames another driver for injuries in Waterloo auto collision

BELLEVILLE – A motorist is suing another driver, alleging negligence over injuries she says she suffered in an an automobile accident.

Nora Sunman filed a lawsuit Jan. 25 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Sean Pinkerton, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on March 6, 2014, Sunman was driving her vehicle on state Route 3 near the intersection of Waterloo Commons Drive in Waterloo, and Pinkerton was driving his vehicle directly behind the plaintiff's in the same vicinity.

The lawsuit states Pinkerton collided with the back of the plaintiff's vehicle, which was stopped in traffic, because he failed the keep his vehicle under proper control, failed to keep a lookout on a public street, failed to stop in time to avoid colliding with the plaintiff's vehicle and failed to reduce his speed. The suit alleges the defendant told a police officer he must have been looking down to change the radio station and didn't see the stopped traffic ahead.

The lawsuit states the plaintiff was injured in the collision, has suffered and will in the future suffer pain and mental anguish, has been disabled and experiences loss of a normal life, has lost wages, expects to have to pay more medical bills and suffered property damage when her vehicle was hit.

Sunman seeks at least $50,000, plus court costs. She is represented by attorney Michael P. Glisson of Williamson, Webster, Falb & Glisson of Alton.
