A Missouri man is suing numerous global corporations alleging he developed Parkinson's disease after years of working with chemicals related to his career in the flooring business.
Vince Stevison filed the suit in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Archer-Daniels-Midland Company, BASF Corporation, PPG Industries and numerous other defendants.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff worked for various flooring companies from 1965 through 2012, mainly in St. Clair County. Each defendant designed, made or sold products containing solvents or substances to which he was exposed. The suit alleges his exposure to those products damaged his nervous system and eventually led to his current health issues.
He is suing each defendant for negligence and product liability, loss of enjoyment of life, incapacitation, lost wages and income, medical expenses and other damages.
The plaintiff seeks damages in excess of $250,000, court costs and attorney fees. He is represented by Tom R. Burcham III of Farmington, Missouri; and Joseph A. Bartholomew of Cook, Ysura, Bartholomew, Brauer & Shevlin of Belleville, Illinois.
