Patient says Xarelto makers misrepresented drug

By Angelino Menconi | Nov 17, 2015

A disgruntled Xarelto patient filed a lawsuit against major pharmaceutical manufacturers, developers and researchers alleging they fraudulently misrepresented the drug's benefits, risks and dangers.

Plaintiff Chezarea Jones filed a 32-count complaint in the St. Clair County Circuit Court on Oct. 13 against pharmaceutical manufacturers Johnson and Johnson, Inc., Bayer Ag, and others, alleging the drug companies fraudulently and knowingly misrepresented the benefits, risks and dangers of Xarelto.

According to the complaint, Chezarea alleges the defendants did not properly warn doctors and health care providers of the dangers and risks associated with Xarelto, and also knowingly exaggerated its benefits and uses compared to other drugs.

The plaintiff seeks in excess of $50,000, plus attorney fees and costs of litigation. Jones is represented by John Driscoll of St. Louis.
