Wrongful death suit filed against Lenzburg man for allegedly shooting father of three

A woman is suing a Lenzburg man after he allegedly shot and killed a father of three.

Judy Gamble-Krauss, as Special Administrator of the Estate of David Lee Shemonia, Jr., filed a lawsuit on Sept. 28 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Bruce Shockley, alleging two counts of wrongful death.

According to the complaint, Gamble-Krauss claims that on Jan. 15, Shemonia was at a property owned by Shockley, located at 9401 Torrens Lane in Lenzburg, when he was allegedly shot and killed.

The plaintiff alleges Shockley shot Shemonia unnecessarily and without any prior warning, and alleges Shockley intended to cause great bodily harm or death.

Gamble-Krauss claims Shemonnia left behind three sons, who have suffered great loss and incurred grief, sorrow and mental suffering.

She is seeking $50,00 for each count of wrongful death, as well as the costs of the suit. She is represented by Phillip R. Rice of Rice Law Offices, LTD, in Belleville.
