A Madison County resident claims she was injured while attempting to board a passenger shuttle bus.

Glen Carbon resident June Kinsey filed suit in Madison County Circuit Court on Aug.19 against Glen Carbon Senior Community Center for allegedly causing severe and potentially permanent injuries to her body, current and ongoing medical costs, and pain and suffering.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff claims she struggled while attempting to board the shuttle bus at its pick-up spot at the Shop 'n' Save in Edwardsville. She alleges the driver of the bus did nothing to help her board. As a result, she claims she had to crawl on-board and that the driver pushed her into the vehicle, injuring her in the process, the suit states.

The plaintiff also alleges the defendant was aware that there was no chairlift in the vehicle and continued to operate it, despite knowing the hazards such actions could result in and knowing that the vehicle was in need of repair, and further, that the operator's behavior in regards to pushing the plaintiff was reckless and needlessly endangering the plaintiff and potentially others in similar circumstances.

The plaintiff seeks restitution in the amount in excess of $50,000.00 dollars, plus court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Brian M Wendler and Ellen R. Burford, or Wendler Law, P.C., based in Edwardsville.

Madison County Circuit Court case number 15-L-1050.
