An Edwardsville man is suing a Salem man and his employer following a vehicle collision.

Mart L. Covington III filed a complaint on July 30 in Madison County Circuit Court against Zachary Williams and Bradley Williams, doing business as Bradley's Cycles, alleging negligence.

The complaint alleges that on Aug. 3, 2013, Zachary Williams, as an employee of Bradley Williams, doing business as Bradley's Cycles, and acting within the scope of his employment, rear-ended Covington's vehicle while both vehicles were traveling eastbound on the 6300 block of Governor's Parkway in Edwardsville.

Among the acts of negligence the complaint cites, Williams is accused of failing to maneuver his vehicle to avoid collision when he had ample opportunity to do so.

As a result, Covington claims he sustained permanent injuries to his body and nervous system, has experienced pain and anguish, has incurred and will incur large medical costs, and has lost and will continue to lose future wages, according to the complaint.

Covington seeks judgment in excess of $50,000, plus costs of the suit.

He is represented by Ronald J. Foster Jr. of Schoen Walton Telken & Foster LLC in Edwardsville.
