A Florida man is suing Hilton Worldwide Holdings in St. Clair County, alleging he is not receiving retirement benefits from his former employer.
John Giovenco, 79, alleges Hilton has breached its Retirement Benefit Replacement Plan and Supplemental Executive Retirement Plan and is asking for monthly compensation of $20,847, according to a complaint filed July 17 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
Giovenco held numerous positions with Hilton properties in Illinois: vice president and treasurer of the hotel company’s gaming division from 1972 to 1974, senior vice president and chief financial officer from 1974 to 1986 and executive vice president and vice president of the gaming division from 1986 to 1993.
In 1993, Giovenco retired from Hilton and claims to have entered into a Supplemental Executive Retirement Plan. Giovenco said he initially received a lump sum payment and received subsequent compensation. However, when Hilton’s properties went through a series of mergers, he claimed the payments stopped.
Giovenco is seeking back payment of $2,161,391. He is being represented by Thomas Q. Keefe Jr. of Keefe & Keefe PC in Belleville.
