Woman sues bowling alley following slip on locker room rug

A St. Clair County woman is suing after she allegedly slipped and fell at a bowling alley, which she claims caused her physical impairment and emotional discomfort.

Deborah Gloeckner filed a lawsuit on June 19 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against VO & J Investments LLC, d/b/a West Park Bowl & Saloon, in Columbia, alleging premises negligence when she slipped and fell in January 2014.

According to the filing, the plaintiff fell on a rug located near lockers provided to customers for property storage on or about Jan. 13, 2014.

The suit states that the defendant was negligent in allowing a hazardous condition to exist on its property and failing to warn patrons of the unsafe walking condition near the lockers.

Court documents indicate that Gloeckner sustained injuries to her right foot as well as pain, stress, anxiety, frustration and embarrassment.

The plaintiff alleges she was unable to work for six weeks following the accident and incurred medical expenses.

Claiming lost work time and income, Gloeckner seeks judgment against the defendant for more than $50,000, plus attorneys’ fees and costs. She is represented by James W. Eason of the Eason Law Firm in Clayton, Mo.
