A woman allegedly injured after tripping over an object at an area motel chain is suing the establishment's owners.
Cynthia Hardison filed a complaint on July 1 in Madison County Circuit Court against Shivam Hotel LLC, doing business as Super 8 Motel, and Ramanebai Patel, the motel's owner.
On July 3, 2013, Hardison was a guest of the defendants' motel and was walking to the front desk when she tripped over an object left on the floor, the lawsuit states.
The defendants are accused of negligence for placing the object on the floor, creating a dangerous condition, and failing to alert customers about the hazard.
As a result, Hardison claims she suffered injury, pain and suffering, disability, loss of a normal life and medical expenses.
The plaintiff seeks damages of more than $100,000, plus costs. She is represented by attorney John L. Bitzer of the Bitzer Law Firm in Collinsville.
