A woman has filed suit against the gym where she claims she fell in the parking lot.
Brittney Johnson claims she was visiting Fitness and Fun Plus at 1137 East Airline Dr. in East Alton on Oct. 10, 2011, when she fell in the parking lot.
Because of her fall, Johnson suffered injuries to her right knee, ankle, wrist and arm; lost wages; experienced pain and suffering; and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint filed Sept. 30 in Madison County Circuit Court. She also suffered disability and endured a diminished earning capacity, the suit states.
Fitness and Fun Plus negligently failed to properly maintain its parking lot and failed to warn Johnson of the defective conditions of its parking lot, the complaint says.
In her complaint, Johnson is seeking an unspecified judgment in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits of Madison County Circuit Court, plus costs.
She will be represented by Laura A. Cole of Smith, Mendenhall, Selby and Cole in Alton.
