A man has filed suit against the driver who he claims collided with the vehicle in which he was riding.
Edward A. Akers III claims he was riding in a 2010 Dodge Caliber that was traveling west on New Poag Road in Edwardsville on Sept. 4, 2011, when defendant Paul Dresser, who was driving a 2005 Pontiac Vibe east on the same road, struck the Dodge.
Because of the collision, Akers suffered severe and permanent injuries, suffered great pain and anguish, incurred medical costs and lost wages, according to the complaint filed Sept. 3 in Madison County Circuit Court.
Akers blames Dresser for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to reduce his speed to avoid a collision, failed to keep his vehicle under proper control, failed to keep his vehicle in the proper lane, failed to see Akers’s vehicle and failed to drive at a reasonable speed.
In his complaint, Dresser is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
Patrick G. Johnston and Benjamin T. Stephens of Johnston Law Offices in Edwardsville will be representing him.
