Minor driver's mother sued over Fairview Heights accident

A woman claims she suffered severe and chronic injuries after a minor driver rear-ended her vehicle.

Madonna M. Williams filed a lawsuit July 26 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Pamela R. Rudolph as mother of Travion Tiller.

In her complaint, Williams claims she had stopped her 2011 Jeep Laredo south on North Illinois approaching its intersection with Ashland Avenue in Fairview Heights on July 14, 2012, at about 3:14 p.m. Suddenly, Tiller, who was driving a 1994 Honda Accord in the same direction, struck the back of Williams’s vehicle, according to the complaint.

Because of the collision, Williams suffered pain, discomfort and mental anguish; incurred medical costs; and has been unable to perform her activities, the suit states.

She blames Tiller for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to reduce his speed, failed to keep his vehicle under proper control, failed to see her vehicle, failed to keep a proper lookout, followed her vehicle too closely, drove too fast and failed to drive in a safe manner.

Williams seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.

Edward J. Fisher of Fisher, Kerkhover and Coffey in Chester will be representing her.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 13-L-391.
