A chiropractor’s office has filed suit against its former office manager, alleging she stole tens of thousands of dollars away from the chiropractor during her tenure.
Rosewood Physical Therapy and Cheely Chiropractic Clinic claim their office manager, Carie R. Scott, stole money from their businesses and paid herself extra payroll, issued unauthorized bonus checks, created and paid a phantom vendor, wrote off cash payments from customers and kept the cash for herself and charged personal expenses to company credit cards.
Although the plaintiffs say they have demanded repayment from Scott, she has failed to repay the companies.
“Plaintiffs have been damaged in an amount in excess of $50,000,” the suit states.
Rosewood and Cheely allege conversion, unjust enrichment and breach of fiduciary duty against Scott.
In their complaint, the plaintiffs seek a judgment of more than $100,000 and compensatory damages of more than $50,000, plus interest at 9 percent, punitive damages of no less than $1 million, costs and other relief the court deems just.
