Camp Jackson Road accident causes injuries, suit claims

A driver is being sued for crashing into another driver while trying to turn left at an intersection in Cahokia.

Christopher R. Bess filed lawsuit against Adam C. Smith April 22 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

Bess was driving east on Camp Jackson Road in August 2012, according to the complaint. At the same time, Smith was allegedly heading west on Camp Jackson Road. At the intersection of St. Christopher Street, Bess says Smith failed to yield to oncoming traffic and tried to turn left in front of him. Bess claims he could not avoid crashing into Smith's car.

Bess accuses Smith of negligence and asks for more than $50,000 in damages for medical bills and costs of the lawsuit.

Attorney Julie A. Blanks, of Decatur's Hausmann-McNally law firm, represents Bess.
