Multi-car crash on Frank Scott Parkway leads to suit

By Andrea Dearden | Apr 26, 2013

A St. Clair County man is accused of causing a multi-car crash when he rear-ended another vehicle in Belleville.

Omea M. Baker filed a lawsuit March 28 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Patrick E. McLean.

Baker says she was a passenger in a car heading south on Frank Scott Parkway in December 2012 and stopped in traffic at the intersection of Illinois Route 13. At the same time, according to the complaint, McLean was driving a van southbound on Frank Scott Parkway, failed to slow for the stopped traffic and rear-ended a vehicle driven by Jeffrey E. Tindall. The force of the crash allegedly pushed Tindall's truck into the back of the car in which Baker was riding.

Baker says she was hurt in the crash. She is suing McLean for negligence and asks for more than $50,000 in damages for medical bills, lost wages and court costs.

Attorney Brad L. Badgley of Belleville represents Baker.
