Driver failed to keep proper lookout in Route 15 accident, suit says

A woman claims she sustained multiple injuries after a driver rear-ended her vehicle twice.

Lisa M. Johnson filed a lawsuit Sept. 6 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Amber L. Randall.

In her complaint, Johnson alleges she drove east on Illinois Route 15 on Sept. 15, 2010, when Randall, who drove in the same direction, struck the back of her vehicle twice.

Because of the collision, Johnson suffered head, neck, chest, shoulder, upper and lower back, arm, pelvis and leg injuries and experienced severe pain of her body and mind, according to the complaint. She also incurred medical costs of more than $75,000 and lost wages, the suit states.

Johnson blames Randall for causing the collision, saying she negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to maintain control of her vehicle, failed to stop or swerve to avoid a collision, failed to keep a safe distance between her vehicle and Johnson's and allowed the front of her vehicle to come into contact with the back of Johnson's.

In her complaint, Johnson seeks a judgment of more than $25,000, plus costs.

Cynthia M. Hennessey of Hennessey Law Firm in St. Louis will be representing her.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 12-L-461.
