A woman claims she endured disability and disfigurement after a driver failed to yield the right-of-way at a traffic control device and struck her vehicle.

Rebecca L. Johnson filed a lawsuit Sept. 24 in Madison County Circuit Court against Julie A. Randall.

In her complaint, Johnson alleges she drove west on Johnson Road on Nov. 5, 2011, and was turning left onto Illinois Route 203 in Granite City when Randall, who was driving at the same intersection, struck her vehicle.

In addition to her disability and disfigurement, Johnson suffered great pain and mental anguish, lost earnings, incurred medical costs and experienced a diminished future earning capacity, according to the complaint.

Johnson blames Randall for causing the collision, saying she negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, drove in such a manner that she struck Johnson's vehicle, failed to properly apply her brakes and failed to reduce her speed to avoid a collision.

Johnson seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.

Gregory M. Tobin of Pratt and Tobin in East Alton will be representing her.
