A Florida man claims he incurred medical costs after a driver struck his tractor trailer.
Angel Cordero filed a lawsuit July 10 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Steven Todd and First Express.
In his complaint, Cordero alleges he drove a tractor trailer west on Interstate 64 about .2 miles west of mile post 3 in East St. Louis Township on May 24, 2011, when Steven Todd, who drove a tractor trailer for First Express behind Cordero, rear-ended Cordero.
In addition to his medical costs, Cordero lost income, suffered pain and lost his normal life because of the collision, according to the complaint.
Cordero blames Todd for causing the collision, saying he negligently drove too fast, failed to keep a proper lookout and failed to reduce his speed to avoid striking the vehicle in front of him.
In his two-count complaint, Cordero seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
Jon E. Rosenstengel of Bonifield and Rosenstengel in Belleville will be representing him.
