Injuries claimed in Granite City accident

A woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims rear-ended her vehicle.

Sarah Molitor claims she was driving north on Madison Avenue near its intersection with 20th Street in Granite City on Dec. 2, 2011, when defendant Jessica Armbruster, who was driving in the same direction, struck the back of her vehicle.

Because of the collision, Molitor was made sick, sore, lame, disordered and disabled; received injuries to her neck and back; and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint filed May 24 in Madison County Circuit Court. She also suffered disability, experienced pain and suffering and lost wages, the suit states.

Armbruster negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, drove in such a manner that she struck the rear of Molitor's vehicle, failed to properly apply her brakes, drove too fast and followed Molitor's vehicle too closely, the complaint says.

In addition to Armbruster, Molitor names Sylvester Silas Jr. as a defendant, saying he negligently lent his vehicle to Armbruster, whom he should have known to be an incompetent and inexperienced driver.

In her two-count complaint, Molitor seeks a judgment of more than $100,000, plus costs.

She will be represented by Thomas C. Rich and Kristina D. Cooksey of Fairview Heights.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 12-L-726.
