Suit seek repayment of credit card debt

By Andrea Dearden | May 17, 2012

A St. Clair County man is accused of not paying nearly $55,000 in credit card debt.

Cavalry Portfolio Services LLC filed a lawsuit April 30 against Darren L. Thomas in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

According to the complaint, Thomas opened a line of credit with Bank of America in May 1997 and another in October 1998. Thomas allegedly failed to pay the balances on the accounts which totals nearly $35,000.

Cavalry Portfolio says it purchased the rights to the accounts from Bank of America, as allowed by Illinois' Collection Agency Act, and is entitled to the entire outstanding balance along with additional interest that has accrued.

Cavalry claims Thomas owes nearly $55,000, plus court costs.

Attorney Brian D. Schulman of Schaumburg represents Cavalry Portfolio.
