Merit retention panel selected to review Wilkerson

A 10-member panel has been selected for the purpose
of examining the retention of U.S. Magistrate Judge Donald G. Wilkerson.

Belleville attorney Bruce Cook will serve as chairperson of the panel that includes two non-attorneys, former Belleville police chief Terry Delaney and Rosario Stobbs of Alton.

The panel will review and consider comments received from members of the bar and the public, as well as any other pertinent evidence as to
Wilkerson's character, judgment, legal ability, temperament, and commitment to equal justice under the law.

The panel will report the results of its activities to the court
by Aug. 2, specifying the opinion of the panel as to whether Wilkerson should be retained. The panel will meet as determined by chairperson Cook.

Other panel members include: Belleville attorneys LaToya Berry, Jerald Bonifield, Untress Quinn, Chi-Yong Throckmartin and Samantha Unsell; assistant U.S. Attorney Suzanne Garrison and Wood River attorney Daniel Schattnik.
