The Firehouse sued over patron's attack

A man has filed suit against the bar where he claims he was attacked by two intoxicated patrons.

Evan Campbell claims he was visiting defendant Nickleshooters doing business as The Firehouse on May 7, 2011, when he was attacked by two intoxicated patrons.

Because of the assault, Campbell sustained a fracture to his face and to his left eye socket, which required surgery, and incurred pain and suffering, according to the complaint filed April 12 in Madison County Circuit Court. In addition, he became disabled and was unable to pursue his normal life activities, the suit states.

Nickleshooters negligently sold alcoholic beverages to the intoxicated people, which resulted in the attack, the complaint says. It also failed to provide adequate security and failed to protect Campbell from intoxicated patrons, he claims.

In his complaint, Campbell is seeking a judgment of more than $100,000, plus costs.

Michael P. Glisson of Williamson, Webster, Falb and Glisson in Alton will be representing him.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 12-L-492.
