The administrators of a deceased woman's estate have filed suit against the doctors who they claim failed to clear the woman's airway in enough time to save her life.
Joseph Higgs and Rudy Brady allege Valarie Manning Higgs died on March 15, 2008, after she went to defendant Southern Illinois Health Care Access and Touchette Regional Hospital, both doing business as Kenneth Hall Regional Hospital in East St. Louis.
Defendant Dr. Sana Ullah attempted to treat Valarie Higgs upon her March 15, 2008, arrival, but failed to clear her airway, according to the complaint filed March 13 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
As a result, Valarie Higgs suffered from anaphylaxis and respiratory failure, leading to her death, according to the complaint.

In their complaint, Joseph Higgs and Brady are seeking a judgment of more than $400,000, plus costs.
