Driver accused of running stop sign, T-boning other vehicle

Two men have filed a lawsuit against a woman they say ran a stop sign and crashed into them at an East St. Louis intersection.

Ronald Adams and Emmitte Prince filed a complaint against Sandra M. Gentry on Feb. 28 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

The alleged crash happened on Riverpark Drive in East St. Louis Nov. 23, 2011, according to the complaint. Adams says he was driving east on Riverpark Drive near the intersection of Third Street when Gentry, who was driving south on Third Street, allegedly ran a stop sign and hit his vehicle broadside.

Adams and his passenger, Prince, say the impact of the T-bone crash caused serious injuries to their head, body, arms and legs. They accuse Gentry of negligence for allegedly causing the collision by ignoring a stop sign, driving too fast and failing to avoid contact with another vehicle.

Adams and Prince are each asking to be awarded more than $50,000 in damages for medical costs, pain and suffering, lost wages and the loss of future earnings.

Attorney John H. Hustava of Collinsville is representing Adams and Prince.
