Driver swerved into utility pole to avoid truck, suit says

A man driving through Belleville says he was forced off the road and into a power pole by another driver.

Robert S. Wolfersberger filed a lawsuit Feb. 21 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Christopher G. Arentsen and Light Brite Distributing Inc.

According to the complaint, Wolfersberger was driving north on McClintock Avenue in March 2010. As Wolfersberger neared the intersection of Wabash Avenue, he says Arentsen turned from McClintock onto Wabash, crossing right in front of Wolfersberger's vehicle.

Arentsen was reportedly driving a work truck that belonged to Light Bright Distributing. Wolfersberger says he had to swerve to the right to avoid hitting the Light Brite truck and ended up crashing into a utility pole.

Wolfersberger accuses Arentsen and his employer of negligence and asks for more than $100,000 in damages for medical bills and court costs.

Attorney Tarun Rana of St. Louis is representing Wolfersberger.
