A Belleville woman accuses an Alhambra man of rear-ending her while driving on an icy road in Marine Township.

Donna Crain filed a lawsuit against Erich Lackey on Jan. 3 in Madison County Circuit Court.

According to the complaint, Crain was driving west on Illinois Route 143 in January 2010. Crain claims Lackey was following her too closely on the snow- and ice-covered road. As she neared the intersection of East Division Street, Crain alleges her vehicle was hit from behind by a car driven by Lackey.

Crain says Lackey was driving too fast for the conditions slick conditions and accuses him of negligence. She says is liable for injuries she allegedly received in the crash.

Crain is asking for more than $50,000 in damages for medical expenses, loss of income and court costs. Attorney Ronald J. Foster Jr. of East St. Louis is representing Crain.
