Edwardsville attorney Robert H. (Barney) Shultz, Jr. has been named "Lawyer of the Year" for 2012 by Best Lawyers in America.
Shultz was named in the category of "St. Louis Defendants Mass Tort Litigation/Class Actions."
Shultz is managing partner of the firm's Edwardsville office and also chairs the firm's toxic tort and class action practices. In his role as head of these practices, he has formed and directed many joint defense efforts, inside and outside the firm, including the coordination of multiple defense counsel and computer-assisted litigation management.
His practice focuses upon the defense of toxic tort, product liability, pharmaceutical/medical device, and class actions claims.
He has tried asbestos and product liability lawsuits throughout the state of Illinois, including Cook County, and he has served as trial counsel for clients in California and West Virginia.
After more than a quarter of a century in publication, Best Lawyers is designating "Lawyers of the Year" in high-profile legal specialties in large legal communities. Only a single lawyer in each specialty in each community is being honored as the "Lawyer of the Year."
