The parties in a defamation of character suit filed by a former hospital nurse claiming rumors led to his firing have requested a protective order.
Defendants Kathryn Hartmann and Saint Anthony's Health Center as well as plaintiff John Doe jointly asked Madison County Circuit Judge Dennis Ruth to grant the order concerning hospital personnel records.
Doe is seeking at least $50,000, costs, lost wages and other damages. He claims Hartmann falsely accused him of molesting a patient in April 2009 and that Saint Anthony's then fired him based on the claims.
The docket does not reflect whether Ruth has ruled on the joint motion filed last month.
In his suit, Doe claims that accusations made about him were false and were thrown out by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
Doe also claims the Alton hospital discriminated against him due to his sexual orientation.
The defendants claim in their motion to dismiss that Doe's claims don't meet the legal standards need to go forward.
Doe is represented by Jacqueline Brandenburg-Rees and Bob Perica.
The defendants are represented by Jill Luft, Edward Bott and Melanie Renken.
The case is Madison case number 10-L-370.
