Tow truck driver lost control, causing accident, suit claims

A Belleville woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims caused a multi-car collision.

Cherelle M. Jackson claims she was driving south on Greenmount Road near its intersection with Weatherstone Drive in Belleville on Nov. 21, 2009, at about 1 p.m. when Andrew T. Bleisch, who was driving a Ford F-450 tow truck north on the same road, lost control and swerved into Jackson's lane. Bleisch struck Jackson's vehicle and other cars driving in the northbound and southbound lanes, according to the complaint filed Nov. 9 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

At the time of the collision, Bleisch was working for defendant Clete's Auto Repair, the suit states.

Because of the collision, Jackson was made sick, sore and lame; sustained significant injuries to her arms and legs; and suffered a diminished ability to enjoy life, the complaint says. In addition, she claims she has been unable to secure a job and has incurred medical costs.

Bleisch negligently drove too fast, failed to keep his vehicle in a single lane and failed to keep a proper lookout, the complaint says.

She will be represented by Jerald J. Bonifield of Bonifield and Rosenstengel in Belleville.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 11-L-632.
