Liberty Insurance claims roofing contractor failed to pay premium

By Andrea Dearden | Nov 21, 2011

A Granite City roofing company is accused of failing to pay an insurance premium.

Liberty Insurance Corporation filed a lawsuit Nov. 8 in Madison County Circuit Court against Ronald Ryan, doing business as Ryan Roofing.

According to the complaint, Liberty Insurance agreed to issue a policy to Ryan Roofing that ran from July 2008 through July 2010. The insurance carrier says they performed an audit at the end of the term and determined an additional premium was required by Ryan Roofing. Liberty alleges the roofing company and its owner agreed to the terms of the policy but has refused to pay the premium, a total of more than $250,000.

Liberty Insurance asks to be paid the balance of the premium plus interest and court costs.

The insurance provider is being represented by attorney Mark A. Brueggemann of Collinsville.
