The relative of a recently deceased woman alleges a doctor at a Belleville hospital failed to implant a pacemaker in the woman, causing her death.

Kevin Bowlin alleges Deborah Bowlin was admitted to defendant St. Elizabeth's Hospital on Oct. 22, 2009, for heart problems and came under the care of defendant Dr. David F. Wallace.

During Wallace's treatment of Deborah Bowlin, however, he allegedly failed to implant a pacemaker and cardiac defibrillator, failed to order appropriate tests and failed to appropriately monitor Deborah Bowlin's cardiac condition, according to the complaint filed Nov. 4 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

As a result of Wallace's alleged inadequate treatment, Deborah Bowlin died on Nov 4, 2009, the suit states.

Because of Deborah Bowlin's death, her relatives have been deprived of money and lost her company, the complaint says.

In addition to St. Elizabeth's Hospital and Wallace, Kevin Bowlin names Cardiology Consultants as a defendant, saying Wallace worked for it.

In his three-count complaint, Kevin Bowlin is seeking a judgment of more than $150,000, plus costs.

Darren E. Daley of Strellis and Field in Waterloo will be representing him.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 11-L-624.
