A mother is suing a St. Clair County McDonald's restaurant over third degree burns and significant scarring she says her daughter sustained when overheated products fell on her lower right extremity.

Mildred Wright filed suit on behalf of her minor daughter, Tiffany Wright, on July 19 in St. Clair County Circuit Court. The suit names Garjo, Inc., doing business as McDonald's, and employee Christina Whitson.

Wright claims the incident took place Aug. 7, 2009, as Tiffany was attempting to open a package.

The suit claims the defendants failed to excercise reasonable care in preheating the product, failed to ensure the product was safe for handling and failed to ensure the product was warm and not overheated over the normal temperature.

The complaint does not indicate what product caused the alleged injury.

Wright is seeking in excess of $100,000 in damages.

She is represented by Michael Graff of St. Louis.
