A Madison County woman is suing the companies responsible for digging a ditch after she allegedly crashed her car into it.

Addie Jones Wilkins filed the lawsuit July 19 in Madison County Circuit Court against Berco Construction Inc., AT&T and Jersey County Rural Water Company Inc.

Wilkins says she was driving her car in July 2010 on Teney Hollow Road in the city of Piasa. She allegedly crashed into a ditch dug by Berco Construction, AT&T and Jersey County Rural Water Company. The woman contends it was left without an adequate barricade or cover.

Wilkins accuses the three defendants of negligence and asks for more than $150,000 in damages, plus court costs. She is represented by attorneys Jon Shelton and Joseph T. Madrid, of St. Louis, and Ronald J. Foster of East St. Louis.
