A man has filed suit against the railroad where he worked, alleging he sustained shoulder and upper extremity injuries during his career.
Calvin Outlaw claims he was working for defendant Norfolk Southern Railway Company as a carman. Outlaw sustained the injuries to his shoulder and upper extremities throughout his career with the company, according to the complaint filed May 27 in Madison County Circuit Court.
Outlaw does not mention how long he was employed by the railroad or where he worked.
In addition to his injuries, Outlaw experienced pain and mental anguish, lost wages, incurred medical costs and experienced a diminished ability to work, labor and enjoy his normal life pursuits, the suit states.
Norfolk Southern Railway Company negligently failed to provide Outlaw with a safe place to work, failed to provide safe conditions and safe methods for work and failed to enact a comprehensive ergonomics program, among other negligent acts, the complaint says.
In his complaint, Outlaw seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
He will be represented by Steven L. Groves of Holland, Groves, Schneller and Stolze.
