The trial of a breach of contract suit filed against the City of Wood River by former real estate developer Rick Jones has a February 2012 trial date.

A pre-trial in the suit is now set for Dec. 14 at 11 a.m. according to the suit's docket sheet with the suit's trial following on Feb. 6, 2012.

Jones is suing Wood River for damages in excess of $50,000 and other relief.

He claims the city failed to uphold its end of a real estate transaction.

The city has countered that Jones did not hold up his end of the deal.

The pre-trial and trial dates were set after Madison County Circuit Judge David Hylla required the parties to amend their case management order and schedule in an order signed March 25.

Jones, once a large developer in the Metro East, eventually pled guilty to federal tax evasion charges and served an 18 month prison term.

Jones' ex-wife, Dorothy Jones, is also named as a party in the Wood River case. No attorney has entered an appearance on her behalf in the matter.

Daniel Nester represents Wood River.

Robert Bassett represents Rick Jones.

The case is Madison case number 09-L-641.
