Status conference set in ex-employees' suit against Cahokia water district

A status conference set Monday could be the last action in a suit brought by former employees of the Commonfields Cahokia Water District against their former employer.

Defendants Marilyn Stringfellow, Carolyn Touchette, Mike Millatti and Erma Millard have not filed answers to the 2010 suit.

There have also been no filings since last year by plaintiffs Peggy Pierce, Isaac Turner, Marcus Luster and Dennis Traiteur Jr.

St. Clair County Circuit Judge Robert LeChien on Feb. 10 ordered the April 4 status conference be set.

The order also indicates that the parties have not complied with rules to set the case for a future date and that if no parties appear, LeChien will enter a default judgment ending the case.

The plaintiffs allege that they were wrongfully fired for supporting opponents of water district trustees Stingfellow, Touchette, Millatti and Millard during an election.

The plaintiffs' suit seeks damages in excess of $150,000 and reinstatement to their jobs.

The Feb. 10 order is the latest action in the case to date.

Robert Sprague represents the plaintiffs.

There is no attorney listed for the defendants in the case file.

The case is St. Clair case number 10-L-061.
